PANAMA Urban center — The Panama City Center for the Arts will unveil 3 new galleries in May with displays of work from the Bay Almanac Contest and two other exhibits.
The Bay Annual Competition volition return for its 59th year, forth with the Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month showroom and works from local lensman Angel Cervantes. In the 1960s, the Panama City Artist Clan started the Bay Annual juried competition and exhibition. The competition is open to artists of all ages residing in 16 counties across Northwest Florida. Each year, artists from all fine arts mediums, excluding photography, submit works on any topic.

All artists submitted their works on Apr 22 or Apr 23, with the works showcased in the arts heart's Principal Gallery. A $500 Best of Show honour and five $100 merit awards will exist presented to the winning artists during the opening reception.
This year'due south judge is Tallahassee artist Brinda Pamulapati, owner and managing director of the Venvi Art Gallery in Tallahassee. Pamulapati has served as a judge for many arts organizations in the Tallahassee area, including the Artist League Museum of Fine Arts, Artopia panel discussion in the Gadsden Museum of Art and the Council on Culture & Arts Cultural Grant Programme Panel.
Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Calendar month exhibit
The Miller Gallery will feature various Asian art pieces from local writer and engineer Jeannie Millaway, from textiles and scrolls of art to mutual household items. Millaway organized the heritage exhibition in collaboration with other families in Panama City, collecting family unit heirlooms and other staples in Asian fine art to educate and fascinate visitors.
"My search began with Asian Immigrants like myself, but I presently discovered that connections to Asian civilization are beyond skin colors," Millaway said almost preparing the exhibit. "Asian art and objects were treasured past war machine families, through friendships across borders, or sometimes just a unproblematic appreciation of their uniqueness. I was amazed by the enthusiasm of those contributing items for this exhibit and humbled by their willingness to let me tell their stories."
Angel Cervantes' photography
The Cafe Gallery will display works from local photographer Angel Cervantes. Cervantes' passion for fine art and nature has led him to develop a way that involves various mediums, experimenting with oils, watercolors, charcoal, photography, dirt and acrylic paints.
In this showroom, visitors can expect a photography series that celebrates Panama City's incredible biodiversity and the effect of experiences on perspectives equally an individual and collective consciousness.
The exhibits will exist displayed in the three galleries from May 6 to May 28. The Heart for the Arts is open and free to the public Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.one thousand. to v p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to seven p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.chiliad. to five p.m.
